Baptism Parents who wish their child to be baptized should be registered members of St. Anne parish. Attendance at a Baptismal preparation class is required. This one- hour class is held every 6-8 weeks, with time and location noted in the bulletin. After completion of the class, parents need to contact a priest to make arrangements for the Baptism. Baptisms are normally celebrated on Sunday, following one of the scheduled masses. Special circumstances or dates will always be given consideration. Normally a child will have 2 sponsors (Godparents), one male and one female. At least one sponsor is required. A sponsor must be at least 16 years old, been confirmed and received Holy Eucharist. (see p.2 of Baptismal form for additional information) First Reconciliation The sacrament of First Reconciliation, or Penance, is celebrated in the second grade. Children must be baptized in order to receive this sacrament. Students in Catholic grade school and our Sunday School program are catechized for reception of the sacrament during their religion classes. Special classes are available for older students who may not yet have received the sacrament. First Eucharist Students receive First Eucharist, or Holy Communion, in the second grade after having made their First Reconciliation. This sacrament is usually celebrated the second weekend in May. Students in Catholic grade school and our Sunday School are catechized for this sacrament during their religion classes. Special classes are available for older students who may not yet have received the sacrament. Confirmation Confirmation is celebrated in the 7th grade. Students must complete a course of study, perform service hours and attend a retreat. A program is also available for students in high school who may not have been confirmed. High school students preparing for this sacrament are expected to be active participants in both Youth Group and Bible Study.
