August 6, 2009

Members Present:      Father Morley, Bill Baker, John Hopkins, Sherrie Moore, Bonnie Moyer, Teresa Timmons, Justin Zimmerman

Members Absent:      Roy Cespedes, Marion Deehan, Mary Elmer, Patty Sharp

Guests:                 Louise Allen, Peggy Baker

Father opened the meeting with prayer at 7:05 p.m.

The following were elected as Pastoral Council Officers for the 2009-2010 year:

  Chairperson: John Hopkins  Vice-Chairperson: Bonnie Moyer  Acting Secretary: Sherrie Moore

Minutes from the June 4, 2009 meeting were approved.

Youth Report:

·        Justin reported that the bake sale made a profit of $405.00.

·        Regular youth meetings continue on Wednesday nights at 7:00 until August 30 when Sunday nights begin at 6:00 pm.

·        The 5:00 pm Youth Mass will start in September, the Sunday after Labor Day, through the first Sunday of May.  The youth in attendance will be utilized in leadership rolls at these Masses.

·        They are working on a design logo (C I A :  Christians – In – Action), for t-shirts that the group will wear at Mass.

·        They will participate this year in the Festival of Trees.  Their profits from the event will be utilized to purchase a picture of St. Anthony the Abbot for the church. 

·        Another Parish Weeki Wachee Kayak trip is planned for Labor Day, September 7.

Old Business:

·        Commissioning of the new Pastoral Council members will be on August 23, at the 10:00 A.M. Mass.

·        The topic of a “Lending Library” was discussed again with reference to our last council meeting question where Bill was approached with the idea.  It was again asked of Father to look into the idea and determine if there is a feasible location to house the materials.  Teresa noted that RCIA has videos in their library that may be borrowed.

New Business:

·        Father reported that we have new contemporary music books for the Youth Mass.

·        The following revised dates have been set for next years council meetings:                       2009                      2010

                  August 6                 February 10

                  October 14                  April 14

                  December 9                June 9

·        Father will be taking Tuesdays off.

·        The Holy Land Pilgrimage with Father Burton will be a 10-day parish fundraiser trip leaving on November 27, 2010.

·        Father reported that a fundraiser “Breakfast at Beefs” sponsored by Beef O Brady’s is being looked into.  We would sell the tickets and they would charge only one dollar per ticket sold to supply, cook, and serve the food at their restaurant. 

·        A question was raised about replacing Pastoral Council members that are not able to fulfill their obligation to attend our bi-monthly meetings.  Father will check with Karen on what the replacement procedure would entail. 

·        John asked about the Thursday morning Bible Study group.  Bill shared that the 9:00 am group of around 20 people are eager to share.  A discussion on becoming more of a parish family followed.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, October 14, 2009.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. with the Hail Mary.
