St. Anthony Parish at 830 Bowen St., Dayton, OH 45410-2514 US - SCRIP 101:  "A NO BRAINER!"

Do you eat?  Do you ever put gas in your car?  Do you enjoy eating out occasionally?  Shop for home improvement supplies?...Clothes?...Shoes?...Gifts?...Groceries???

If you can answer "YES" to any of these questions, then SCRIP is for you!  By simply planning ahead and purchasing SCRIP cards, a portion of what you spend on these everyday items will go to help St. Anthony School continue to provide quality education for our children.

Here is one example:  Your son is signed up to play Little League Baseball this spring and will need a baseball glove.  A decent one at Dick's Sporting Goods will run about $75.  St. Anthony sells SCRIP cards for Dick's Sporting goods in $25 increments.  You use them like gift cards at the store to purchase the baseball glove you were going to purchase anyway!  But the difference is that the school received 8% back from Dick's Sporting Goods.  That's a $6.00 donation that did not cost you anything extra.

Or crunch these numbers:  You need a new hot water heater and are interested in putting one in yourself.  You shop the sales and find a good one at Lowes for around $450.  If you pay for it with SCRIP cards, the parish gets $18 and you get a hot shower after installing it.  (You might consider purchasing some extra SCRIP at the same time because you know you will have to return to Lowes several more times to pick up the right fittings and additional hardware!!!) 

Both these examples illustrate using SCRIP to pay for things you were going to buy anyway.  Use it for everything you need and purchase regularly to maximize your contribution to the school!  Every little bit helps.  You can also purchase the gift cards to have on hand as inexpensive tokens of appreciation or short notice gifts.  The uses for SCRIP are limitless and the benefits for the school are tremendous!

SCRIP is sold at the main entrance to the church on weekends after all masses on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.  Many of the SCRIP cards are also available in the school office and in the Credit Union throughout the week.
