Active Ministries at St. Augustine

Altar Servers: Boys & Girls (9 years or older) to assist during the celebration of Mass. Contact parish office for more information.

Angel Food Ministries:  Parishioners who  provide the opportunity for people to purchase food on a monthly basis at significant savings. In addition, we reach out to people who might need some other ministry. Orders are placed on a set 3 days per month and food is delivered to St. Augustine on a Saturday morning near end of month. Contact persons are Carolyn Falcigno or Anthony Martone.

Bible Study:  Bible study program led by Deacon John Hart. Open to all, this group meets semi-monthly.

Communications Committee: A group who assists the parish efforts to spread the Gospel message in new and creative ways. Contact parish office for more information.

Confraternity of the Rosary: Parish Society of Women who meet monthly to pray, learn, socialize and serve the parish by sponsoring various activities during the year, including fundraising. Contact person president Linda Proto.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion:  Adults (18 years or older) who have been trained and commissioned to assist in distributing Communion at Mass and to those unable to attend Mass.(6 year term is the norm) Contact parish office for more information.

Facilities:  A Group of parishioners who tend to the physical needs of the building and grounds of the church. Contact person is Anthony Bergeron.

Family Chalice Program: Participants who agree to pray for vocations for one week, receive a chalice and prayer booklet at a weekend Mass and return it the following weekend.

Greeters:  Open to families, couples, or individuals who would like to provide a welcome to people attending our parish for liturgy. Contact parish office for more information.

Grounds Committee: A group of parishioners who take the responsibility for different garden areas of the parish each summer. Done on a yearly basis. Contact person is Anthony Bergeron.

Knights of Columbus: Fraternal benefit society that also serves our parish through many yearly activities. Contact person is Grand Knight Anthony Bozzuto.

Liturgy Committee:  A group of parishioners who help plan seasonal celebrations of the liturgical year. (3 year term) Contact parish office for more information.

Men’s Group: Men meet on the first Saturday of the month for breakfast, talks, and encouragement. Videos shown and discussed on various topics of importance which affect our daily lives. Contact parish office for more information.

Men’s Retreat League: An association of men (18  and older ) who sponsor retreats for men. Contact person is Ryan Dudley.

Music Ministries: People who share their talents to enhance the celebration of mass by playing an instrument or singing in the choir. Contact person is John Calamita.

Musical Notes:  A group of parishioners who sing at local convalescent homes on a regular basis.

Parish Council:  Members (18 years and older) are elected by all parishioners (some are appointed by the pastor) to assist and advise the pastor with the ordinary functioning of the parish. (3 year term) Contact parish office for more information.

Parish Finance Committee:  a committee which is open to all adults and appointed by the pastor, who will provide advice to the pastor concerning parish financial matters. Contact parish office for more information.

Parish Stewardship Committee:  A committee which provides leadership to the total stewardship process by investigating and implementing ways in which parishioners can become more involved in parish community life. Contact person is Jonathan Savona.

Parish Nurse:  Ministry to assist people in health and wellness issues. Contact person is Cindy Taylor.

Parish Volunteer: open to anyone who wishes to be available for call when someone is needed to assist the parish on one of many ministries. Contact parish office for more information.

Pro-Life Team: Open to anyone committed to the Culture of Life and willing to present the pro-life message to all parishioners and the community at large. Meets the First Thursday for Mass at 7 pm.  Contact parish office for more information.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults):  Individuals who assist by teaching and/or sharing in the program whereby individuals who wish to become members of the Catholic Church are prepared. Contact parish office for more information.

Readers/Lectors:  Men and Women (16 years or older) who proclaim the scriptures at Mass. Contact parish office for more information.

Religious Education:  Open to anyone interested in teaching the Catholic Faith to our youth and young adults, or those in RCIA classes. Contact person is Religious education director Bernadette Lysaght.

Samaritan Stitchers:  Open to those interested in making prayer shawls and lap robes for the elderly and ill, as well as infant clothing sets. Contact person is Irene Thomas.

Sanctuary Guild:  Members plan and implement the decoration of the sanctuary in keeping with the liturgical seasons. Contact parish office for more information.

Social Action Committee: Parishioners who distribute food to those in need and gifts for children in need throughout the year and especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Contact person is Patty Carrano.

Social Events Committee:  A parish council committee whose purpose is to provide social activities for the parish.  Their primary activity is the annual Parish Picnic in August at the Feast of St. Augustine. Contact person is Paul Calamita.

Usher:  Open to anyone (16 years or older)  who would take up the collection and pass out bulletins and assist in seating people when needed. Contact parish office for more information.

Youth Group: High school students who meet on the 1st Sunday of the month from 7—9 PM for the chance to expand their circle of friends and learn more about their faith.  Adult volunteers are an important part of this service to the young. Contact person is Religious Education director Bernadette Lysaght.

Women’s Group:  Women who meet weekly to discuss and share about weekly scripture readings. Contact parish office for more information.
