Mission Statement
St. Augustine School has as its mission, the complete intellectual, physical, moral, and spiritual formation of its students.
Students will be taught the importance of becoming a productive Christian member of family and society. They will learn to integrate Scripture and Catholic Church teachings into everyday life, transforming thier faith into action.
The religious and lay people involved in educational ministry will promote an atmosphere conducive to learning through their personal commitment to model Gospel values.
The school will continue in partnership with parents, the Church, and the community in guiding each student toward reaching his or her full potential.
Admission Policy
St. Augustine School gives preference in admission to: 1. Siblings of currently enrolled St. Augustine students, 2. Catholic students living within the parish boundaries, 3. Catholic students outside of St. Augustine Parish, 4. Catholic students who do not have a Catholic School, 5. Non-Catholic students. Classroom size is limited to 30 students.
For entrance into kindergarten, the child must be five years of age before August 1 of that school year. For entrance into first grade, the child must be six years of age before August 1 of that school year.
Students will be expected to participate in all religious studies and activities unless excused by patsor/principal in extreme cases.
Parents/legal guardians must be willing to uphold all school policies and to support the school in its financial endeavors.
Academic and Spiritual Activities
Religious ActivitiesThe school community offers the students spiritual growth through religion classes taught by the teachers and the liturgy teaching of the pastor, Holy Mass, recitation of the Rosary, sacramental preparation, reception of sacraments, liturgical planning, Prayer Partners, and special activities.
Mass Attendance
All students are expected to attend Sunday worship at their church and to be active members of their church community.
Each class will have the opportunity to attend Mass usually twice weekly, once at an all-school Mass and once with his/her own class.
Reception of Sacraments
The second graders will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Christmas season and First Holy Communion the second Sunday after Easter.
Students in grades 2-8 will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at school at least two times during the school year.
Rosary
During the Fridays of October and May, the entire school body will pray the Rosary. Every other Month of the school, the student body will pray the Rosary on the first Friday.
Stations of the Cross
Students will participate in the praying of the Stations of the Cross, Friday afternoons during Lent.
Student Activities
Extra CurricularWe believe our goal as educators is to encourage and motivate students to use their God-given gifts and talents to their fullest potential. As a school, we believe academics are primary to this goal with extra-curricular activities being secondary.
Activities
St. Augustine School offers a variety of activities to the students. Students are urgedto take part in as many of these activities as they can reasonably handle without harming their academic achievements. Each activity has something to offer in the way of development of the total personality of the child.
