Apostleship of the Sea (AOS) in England, Wales & Scotland is part of an international network of AOS agencies working in 89 countries to support the people of the sea. AOS is an agency of the Catholic Church whose outreach involves spritual and pastoral, practical and welfare, education and campaigning work in support of all seafarers, regardless of their nationality, colour or creed. AOS supports seafarers through a network of chaplains and ship visitors; both lay and ordained, paid and volunteer, who pro-actively visit seafarers on their ships offering the hand of friendship; run ecumenical drop-in centres in ports where seafarers can relax and contact their families by phone or email; accompany seafarers on their voyages as seagoing chaplains.

News from AOS Swansea Bay
The Ship Visiting Team has continued with its program of visiting throughout the year, taking Crews shopping in Port Talbot, to servcies as well as assiating Port Chaplain Fr Teyrnon Williams with masses on board ship.
The new owners of the Corus Steel Works, TATA, have now instigated further security measures which involve only nominated Sip Vistors and vehicles being allowed on site.
Due to the genourosity of the Parishioners of St Benedict's Clydach, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Mumbles, Cathedral Parish of St Joseph's and many other individuals, they have been able to equip many seafarers, sailing out of the Swansea Bay ports of Port Talbot, Neath River and Swansea with Warm Winter clothing.

Crew of the MV Fernandina with Port Talbot MTS Warden Alwyn Bamford sprting the latest woolly hat creations.
Grateful thanks go to Sean & Mable Haran, Parishioners of St Benedicts Clydach, for their very generous gift of 6 Tagalog Bibles, which are in the process of being distributed, again on a 1 per crew basis. Mable also assisted in translating a pamphlet from English into Tagalog, this has proved a success with all who have taken the booklet. The Tagalog bibles have all been issued and a further supply is to be sourced.
We take time out to thank Alwyn Bamford, the Mission To Seafarer's Warden at Port Talbot who is always there, literally, every night a ship ties up at Port Talbot.
Reverend Joe Morgan, who is the Secretary of the MTS throughout Wales, who has encouraged ties with the AOS in both Swansea & Port Talbot.
Also the members of the Port Welfare Committee of Swansea Bay who appreciate the work that is being carried out by the AOS in Swansea Bay.
Finally, although the weather on Land is starting to improve, it is generally many degrees colder out at sea, we (AOS) still require good quality WARM clothing and Woolly Hats to distribute to our fellow seafarers.
If you wish to donate such clothing please contact:
