Family Life Ministry aims to encourage families to develop their potential for supporting one another by sharing their mutual concerns and problems.

It also seeks to develop and incorporate into existing parish and diocesan activities and services a more sensitive and supportive family dimension.

Diocesan 'conversations' 2004

The FOUR objectives

1. To ESTABLISH who is doing what on behalf of the family, so as to

                       *  thank, affirm and encourage them

                       *  find out what existing provision there is

                       *  raise awareness of activity with the community and its leaders

                       *  identify gaps (and duplication!)

                      *  share expertise, information and resources

                      *  facilitate networking

2. To REVIEW the particular provision for Marriage Preparation and support in the local church.   

3. To FIND OUT

                    *  what family life is really like today

                    *  what help and support Catholic families need

                    *  What the Church can do to provide that help and support

4.  To REAFFIRM the importance of the family in thelife of the Church.

National Marriage Week

8 - 15 FEBRUARY 2004

On Thursday February 12th at St Joseph's Cathedral there will be a CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE service commencing at 7.00pm. 

Emeritus Bishop Daniel Mullins will preside and preach the homily.
