About Us
From it's birth in 1993, St. Benedict Parish has grown from infancy to adolescence and now to full maturity as a new parish of 16 years.
The dedication Mass of St. Benedict Church was held on June 26, 1997 at 7:00 p.m.
The church is located on 43 acres in the northwest corner of Yankton. The church includes a large church proper, daily chapel, parish offices, conference center, kitchen and dining room.
The Sacred Heart elementary school was added to the main church and houses Pre-K through 4th grade at the St. Benedict campus. Grades 5 through 8 remain downtown at the Sacred Heart Parish location.
The first pastor for St. Benedict Parish was Rev. Rod Farke. Father Rod spent the first ten years here at the new parish. In 2004, Father Rod was re-assigned to St. Agnes in Vermillion and Rev. Ken Bain was assigned at St. Benedict. Father Ken was at the parish for five years and was re-assigned in 2009.
Rev. Paul T. Josten is the new pastor at St. Benedict Parish. Father Paul arrived at the beginning of July 2009 and is just beginning to settle into his new parish home.
