Welcome to Kindergarten

St. Benedict School!
2011-2012
This year's overall theme is "Let's Do Something Beautiful for God." Each month we will add a word or phrase to direct our thinking toward Godly living.
Our kindergarten class of 10 is made up of 4 boys and 6 girls. The children have adjusted well to our all-day-every-day routine. Of course, our most favorite times are recess and lunch!
Our mornings consist of phonics and reading skills, math, Religion, and specials - music and gym class. After lunch and a short rest time, we have "centers," when small groups of children rotate to 3 or 4 different, guided activities within the room. One afternoon per week, instead of centers, we go to the library and to the computer lab.
We enjoy hearing stories, singing songs and being with friends.
We will participate in the Book-It program sponsored by Pizza Hut beginning in October. Our monthly goal is for each child to read or to listen to 12 stories, October through March. Children will bring home a form each month on which to list stories they have read. When it is returned to the teacher, a certificate for a free personal pizza will be given to them. Let's strive to meet each monthly goal... all 10 of us!
