The snapshot you see on the top was taken last year at the Academic Fair. I placed it here as a reminder that the Academic Fair is coming soon. Those who are working at a science project should at this time be working at their experiments. By the end of this month, January - I will want to see the observations and conclusions along with charts and graphs of the results.
In their regular science classes, the seventh and eighth grade are studying the Solar System and will be going into the stars after this. The sixth grade is working with simple machines and will soon be studying energy.
The seventh graders are working in two different math books. One group will be working with writing and solving equations while the other group is working with proportions and percent. The seventh graders are also using Math Facts in a Flash as well as Accelerated Math. The algebra students are working with solving systems of linear equations and inequalities.
In math, the sixth grade is finifhing up the chapter on addition and subtraction of fractions and will soon begin multiplication and division of fractions. They are also working with Math Facts in a Flash. Some have already mastered all 50 levels. They also do Accelerated Math. We use that mostly as a review of and an extention of skills.
If your child needs extra help in the areas of science or math. please let me know and we'll set up a schedule for that help. If you have any questions, please stop by to see me or give me a call.
