St. Bernard School at 1630 62nd Avenue, Oakland, CA 94620 US - Tuesday Principal's Letter

Tuesday Principal's Letter

May 6, 2008

Dear Saint Bernard Family and Friends,

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Ever Virgin, mother of the True God, woman clothed with the Sun,
I totally consecrate myself to you and to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.
Let us remember this May to pray for and with Mary, who so lovingly and with
total trust said the greatest “yes” to God and bore His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in their Catch the Wave envelopes and
donations.  This money will go directly to our PE program for our students.  In addition,
other schools in our diocese that participated will be donating all but 10% of the monies
they raise to the Consortium Schools – the 10% they keep will go toward PE or yard
equipment for their students.
We met the new Executive Director for the Catholic Schools Consortium.
Mrs. Jewett and I were able to discuss the search for a principal for Saint Bernard
School and she assures me that the process is under way.  One of the next steps
will be to put together a search committee and begin to interview candidates.  I hope
you find it reassuring to know the process is moving forward.
Next week my daughter receives her Masters Degree from New York
University and I will be traveling there this weekend to be there with her.  Please
keep us in prayer and know I will hold each of you in prayer during the week.
Mr. Ruggiero will be in charge in my absence and he and Mrs. Morales have
my contact information and can reach me if needed.  I will be checking in each
day and anyone can reach me by e-mail at dcree@csdo.org.
Our First Communicants are making final preparations for their
First Holy Communion – please keep these children in your prayers as they
prepare to receive Jesus through His Body and Blood in Holy Eucharist.  This
is a very solemn and special time for the children and their families.
Our Eighth graders will be beginning their end of year activities this
Friday with a celebratory dinner.  As they begin their preparations for graduation
and moving on to High School please keep them each in prayer that they be
blessed by God, follow in Jesus’ footsteps and be guided by the Holy Spirit in all ways.
Next week you will receive your children’s final progress reports for
this school year.  There are still several weeks before the end of this final quarter.
Take the time to celebrate your children’s successes and to make a family plan
for ways to address areas that need improvement.
May God bless and keep you this week, holding you close and cradling
you in the palm of His hand.
Love and prayers,

Ms. Denise Cree
