What Is Scrip?
Just a fancy name for gift cards. St. Charles & St. Margaret parishioners can use scrip gift cards to purchase everyday items like food, gas, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, we earn revenue for our school. It’s like fundraising while you shop. You buy gift cards for face value - we make 2-24% profit because the merchants give us a “kickback”so to speak.

What does it cost to participate?
It costs you nothing more than the cost of the gift card.  For example, if you buy gas for the week at Marathon and spend $50, you just buy a $50 gas card. Marathon will pay us 3% of your purchase. If you want to take the family to Applebees for dinner and plan to spend $25 – just buy a $25 gift card. Applebees will pay us 8% of your purchase. If you plan to give gift cards for Christmas, why not buy them from us? We’ll save you a trip to the mall, and the merchants will send a percentage back to us.

Is it really worth it?
You bet it is. Since St. Charles began participating in the Scrip program, we have earned approximately $9,000. We are told that an organization of 150 families easily spends over $1 million dollars per year on food, gas, clothing and other essentials. If all the families use scrip for these purchases, they can raise between $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization -- without spending an additional penny. While their estimates might be optimistic for us, can you imagine how our school could utilize an extra $40,000+?

Sounds great, but what's in it for me?
Not only does the profit benefit the St. Charles Home & School Association, but it can also be applied directly toward a student’s tuition, school fees and religious education programs. If you have a child, niece, nephew or grandchild at St. Charles School or the parish of St. Charles and St. Margarets, your purchases can count toward their programs.  Just put the student’s name at the top of your order form and the profits which are generated from your purchases will be split between the school and that child’s fees.  Many families are able to start the school year without owing any book or playground fees because they have applied their Scrip earnings towards those fees.

Where can I purchase Scrip?
1.    At the school office Monday thru Friday from 8 am – 2 pm.
2.    After weekend Masses at St. Charles
3.    St. Margaret parishioners just call or e-mail and we’ll get your order to you.
