Welcome to our news and information page. Here you will find our newsletter for each week.

St. Denis School News       February 8, 2012

Dinner Auction News - The dinner auction is less than a month away and we are in need of more items for our silent and oral auctions. We would like each family to bring in at least one item for the auction or make a monetary donation to help with purchasing items. Items donated in the past for the auction include holiday items, toys, home decor, tools, sports equipment, jewelry, gift certificates, electronics, sweet treats, and much more! Many of these items will be featured in our silent auction or added to larger packages in the oral auction. Several families can group together to purchase a bigger item for the oral auction. The donation committee has a wish list if you are having trouble deciding on what to donate. The wish list includes a TV, outdoor fire pit, or a wine cabinet/rack/cooler. We are featuring a girl's room again in which we have a rug and desk donated. If you would like to add to that, then a bookcase, or a chair would be great. If you have a question about the wish list, please contact the school, Candie Halter, or Melanie Heuring. We would appreciate to have all donation slips turned in by Friday, February 17 so that we may begin work on the booklet. Thank you for your support of this, our biggest fund raiser. This really does help to keep the cost of our tuition down, without it we would have to increase our tuition substantially.
*   We are asking that each family send in one bag of tortilla chips for the dinner auction. We are also asking that families with last name beginning with A-E send 1 two liter bottle of Sprite, families with last name beginning F-M send 1 two liter bottle of coke, and families with last name beginning P-Z send 1 two liter bottle of diet coke. Please have the soda and chips at school by February 29. Thank you.
*   Please turn in any dinner auction shirt orders by Tuesday, February 14.
Dinner Auction Tickets – Dinner auction tickets went on sale this past Saturday. Don’t miss out on an evening of fun and helping out the school. If you missed out on purchasing your tickets you may call the office or Pam Landeros.
Softball Sign-ups - Sign-up forms went home with the girls last week for summer softball league sign-ups. The sign-up dates were Saturday, Feb. 4 and on the form it listed Wednesday, Feb. 7. Well the second sign-up was Tuesday, Feb. 7 with the deadline for sign-up being February 11. If you are interested in 8 and under coach pitch, 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, or 16 and under summer league softball for your girls and did not make it to one of the sign-ups then you may contact Jerry Hart at 573-275-9526. We do have some forms in the office if you need one.
Camp Re-New-All - It is that time of year again to start thinking about summer and Camp Re-New-All. Students must be going into the 5th grade to go to camp. You will find a camper application in your folder, if you need more, please contact the office.
A Big Thank you - To all who helped with Catholic School Week!
Great Job! – We would like to say how proud we are of the students who helped to make Mass on the Sunday of Catholic Schools Week a very special Mass. They did an absolutely wonderful job! We couldn’t ask for a better group of students to work with.
We NEED Your help - At Mass this weekend Father Michael read a letter from the Bishop about a new law that goes into effect in August of this year unless we stand for what we believe in and make our voices heard. I have enclosed the letter that was read at Mass and on the back of the letter are the names and addresses of those who we need to make our voices heard to. PLEASE, PLEASE,     take some time to read this letter and then compose one of your own to send to the President, Senators, and Congressman. We must all unite and let the leaders of our country know what we stand for and believe in, otherwise they will continue to remove God from everywhere they feel that they can. Without God in our lives and in our country what will we become.
Valentine’s Parties – Classroom Valentine’s parties will be Tuesday, February 14th at 1:30. If you have been asked to help with games or treats your help is greatly appreciated.
Mission Carnival – If you have any Kids’ Meal toys or other little knick-knacks you would like to find a new home for, we could use them for Mission Carnival on February 21.
Six Hour Reading – If your child is participating in the Six Flags Six Hour Reading program, the sheets need to be turned into their teacher by February 27, no later.
Girls' Basketball - The Varsity girls begin play in the Notre Dame tournament this weekend on Saturday, February 11 at 12:45 against St. Francis Xavier of Sikeston. Come cheer them on.
All School and Class Pictures - Cheekwood will be here next week on Thursday, February 16 to take our all school and class pictures. We ask that all students please wear a royal blue dress code shirt that day, no dress down passes may be used. They will also be taking girls' basketball pictures that day, girls please bring your uniforms. I will send home order forms for these pictures as soon as I get them.
Shirt Orders - Please turn in any Spirit and Pride T-shirt orders by Friday, February 10.
No School - We have no school on Monday, February 20 in honor of Presidents' Day and Friday, March 2 in order to set up for the dinner auction.
