What Is Scrip?

Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”.  When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing gift

certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday

expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn money for your child’s education.

Why use Scrip as a fundraiser?

Because families don’t have to sell anything! St. Francis de Sales earns profits from the regular household purchases you would make anyway. Groceries, gasoline, clothing, dining out, toys, gifts, apparel, movies and ... even your Kohl’s credit card account can be paid with scrip.

How does it add up?

Saint Francis de Sales School currently has 192 families.  Based on per week expenses and an average of 4% earnings, the chart below shows how we can reach our goals over the period of one year.

What businesses are available?

There are hundreds of retailers available with profit percentages between 2% and 18%. 

•   Acme, Giant Eagle, Sam’s Club/WalMart, Speedway, Circle K, Olive Garden, i Tunes, Old Navy, Wendy’s, Regal Cinema, Lowes, CVS and hundreds more.

•    Our main supplier will be Great Lakes Scrip Center.  You can check out their website at www.glscrip.com. and get a complete list of available gift cards/certificates.   Although it is not offered on the website, Acme is also available.

How can we purchase Scrip?      (Volunteers are always needed please call Myra at 330-784-6296)

As the Scrip program expands, we will look for opportunities to make purchasing cards readily available.  As it stands, cards may be purchased the following ways beginning November 2nd 2009:

•    By order:  Order forms will be sent home in a Thursday folder.  Enclose cash or check with the order form in an envelope marked “Scrip” and send it with your student to school, or drop it off at the parish office.  Orders turned in by 10:00am Friday will be available the following Friday.

•    Car/Walker:  Many cards in stock will be sold from 2:30-3:00 school days near the school office.  Orders also accepted.

•    Same Day Mondays:  Prepaid orders turned in for Acme and Giant Eagle will be accepted and filled on Mondays.   These orders will be returned to you that same Monday by your student, or you can pick it up between 2:30 and 3:00 where Scrip is being sold near the school office.

•    Future Online Option:  (Not currently available.  We will notify you when it is available) 

•  Scrip orders will be placed online and paid electronically using Presto Pay.  The amount of your order will be deducted from your checking account.  More details will be coming soon.
