BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY
The members of this ministry assist the people of our parish and others in the community when someone they love has died. We help them in planning the vigil service, the funeral Mass, and the interment.

If the family request a luncheon after the funeral, we guide them with what is available at the parish and in the community. There are some members of this ministry who serve as hostesses at these luncheons.

We offer follow-up care with our grief support group and other follow-up care through notes and cards throughout the year. We remember their loved one at a special All Souls Day Mass on November 2 which includes a candle lighting service.

This ministry requires the ability to care and be empathic and diocesan training is needed.

If you are interested in any part of this ministry of consolation, please contact Mary Braun at the parish office.

MINISTERS TO THE SICK
Ministers to the Sick is a program whereby trained lay men and women visit the sick in hospitals, nursing homes and homebound for prayer, communion, and comfort. Because of the large number of area hospitals, it is important that our pastoral staff be notified by the family in case of serious sickness or injury to one of our parishioners. Ministers of the Sick are chosen by the Pastor and staff based upon a person’s ability to interact with others. Ministers to the Sick can arrange for Communion to be brought to the home of any Catholic who is unable to participate at Mass. Ministers to the Sick visit the chronically ill, aged, and homebound at their convenience.

MINISTRY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
Persons in this ministry help to enable people with disabilities the ability to fully participate in our Mass and the life of the parish. They attempt to meet the special needs of each person by providing access to information and referrals, transportation and parking, education, and worship.
