PARISH CHOIR CANTOR MINISTRY INSTRUMENTALISTS
The choir is made up of men and women, and young men and women of high school age who are dedicated to the liturgical sung prayer of the community. Comprised of mixed voices of soprano, alto, tenor and bass, this ensemble ministers at the 10 a.m. Mass on Sundays, as well as other liturgies, and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the church. Previous musical experience is not required. All that is necessary is the ability to learn music by rote and to regularly attend rehearsals and Mass.
Cantors are selected from the parish choir. Strong spirituality and an ability to develop the skills necessary to lead the assembly in sung prayer are necessary. The cantor must demonstrate a particular degree of vocal skills as well as commitment to the liturgical assembly. Cantors are usually selected following a time of commitment to the choir.
We welcome those who are gifted with the ability to play an instrument. Various instrumentalists minister at designated Masses. Participation as an instrumentalist is dependent upon the proficiency level of the player. Rehearsals are usually scheduled as needed prior to designated Masses.
