Commission Reports:

Recreation & Fellowship:  Rebecca Miller presented the Council with a new ministry idea.  This committee has 11 other core members who have scheduled activities involving sports, celebrations, tournaments, and movies to name a few.  This ministry will be added to Community Life Commission.  Motion by Phil Turmel, seconded by Mike Brandenburg to approve this new ministry.  After discussion, which included  Carol Guillory requesting involvement with the religious education program and the Catechists, especially during the holiday seasons.  Finance approval will go have to Finance on 2/28 for a budget. All approved.  Carried.  The council noted that this was the best prepared presentation they’d ever seen.

Building & Groungs Committee: No Report, except to note that this committee is being dissolved.

Community Life – A push for help with all aspects of the Rummage Sale is ongoing.  Jim Winkler has agreed to alert the media on this.   Carol Mullins has taken over this responsibility and there will be two storage trailers delivered next month.  It will be held April 25th and 26th.   The next Woman’s Guild meeting will be March 10th.  It will be their annual Easter Basket/Pizza Party.  The goal is to exceed last years baskets made, which are sent to DFACS for children.  Hospitality is very organized and they are doing an amazing job.   Golden Threads’ next pot luck dinner will be March 6th with a St. Patrick's Day party.  On May 17th, they will have their 9th anniversary dinner.  Carol Guillory asked for consideration of dates for the Rummage sale next year to coincide with the RE program.

Spiritual Life - Donna noted that David Slasinski is needing assistance with schedulers for the Elijah Cup.  Janet Manson resigning from the Respect Life Committee, due to family concerns.

Pastoral Care- John Biggs was welcomed by the Council as he took over for John Russom, who is concentrating his efforts on the Hospitality/welcoming Committee.  Outreach, due to the local economy, seems to be growing rapidly, but John feels he has a handle on things so far.  Jamie Rose is still working on the rehabilitation of the food pantry as part of his Eagle Scout project.   The Elijah Cup project will now fall under the Spiritual Life commission.  Will Jourdan is looking into combining our outreach program with St. Vincent’s DePaul Society.  More to follow on this before it is finalized.

Knights of Columbus- No report.

At-Large-  No report.

Liturgy- Amy Metzger reported that new training for Lector and Advanced Training ministries is being held on March 1st and  March 29th.  Please watch the bulletin for more dates and times.  Eight concert dates are set for the “Summer Series” with a dinner prior to each concert.  Plans are in the works for an “Instructional Mass” but it is very entailed and they will set a date for this to occur after the Easter Season.   All new Lector training will be April 3rd.

Teen- Mike will check into a “negative” comment that was generated over the life teen program and will discuss it with Gina Butler.

Stewardship - Mark Metzger reviewed to process and procedures regarding the upcoming Ministry Fair 3/8 and 3/9.  We will need many volunteers and all council/committee members to man the tables.   Again, it was mentioned to mesh the days of this weekend fair with other things on the calendar as there was a conflict this year with race weekend.

Business Administrator – Robert St. Clair sent his report, due to illness.  The Ministry Books are in and each council attendee received one.  He is working on getting the Ministry Fair Banner on the website.  Since the Picture/Directory won’t happen for 5-6 months he has put this on the back burner.  Chris Flanigan advised that these companies have to be under contract soon or it wouldn’t happen.  Amy will report back that we need quotes by the next meeting.

Education - Carol Guillory reported that all is going well.  There are 17 adults in the RCIA program this year.  LifeTeen has asked to hold a fund raiser Palm Sunday weekend for the homeless of Atlanta with sponsorship of the students who will spend a night, 3/21, outside in a cardboard box to experience the full effect of being homeless.  Life Teen core will act as Police throughout the night. Motion by Donna Coleman, 2nd by Mike Brandenburg to approve the fundraiser.  All approved.   Carried.

Finance- No report.

Old Business:  The offices are almost  (70%) moved into the MPB as of today.   Father was reminded that he was to create a Commission/committee Structure Flow Chart for the Narthex.  He will work on prior to next meeting.  On the web site, please change the address to 152 Antioch Rd. as the official parish address.  The Council will discuss changes to the constitution next month and have them ready for May Elections.  Once the Chapel is moved to the MPB, (with the exception of first Fridays) it will only be open during office business hours.  This is due to security issues for the parishioners and the fact that there are no restroom facilities available after office hours.

New Business:   With the vacancy on the council due to Mike Jorgenson’s resignation, Carl McBride, Jr. has accepted the position of At-large to fill the next 2.25 years.  Elections to fulfill two vacancies on the Council and changes to the constitution will occur in May.  Elections will be co-ordinated by Phil Turmel and Chris Flanigan, as they are the two soliciting parishioners to be put on the ballot, and counting the ballots.  New council members and outgoing members will then attend the retreat held in June.

Pastoral Report:  Father Karl asked the commission/committee members to honor the Welcome Breakfast as a breakfast to treat the new members of the parish.  It is not to be used as a place to recruit these new parishioners to their committees.  That is what stewardship weekend is to be utilized for.  We will begin our second Capital Campaign with the first planning meeting to be held March 6th with the Core committee of eight.  We are currently about $200,000 short from our last campaign and we are shooting for $2million+ during this next campaign.  Our monthly mortgage payment is $28000/month.  Please support this campaign and talk it up as a council.

Next meeting:  March 26th at 730pm, after the Spaghetti dinner.

Motion by Amy Metzger, seconded by Joyanne Treagear, to end the meeting at 9:15 with a prayer, led by Father Karl.  All approved - Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Chris Flanigan, Secretary
