What is it? Since its formation many years ago, the main focus of the Neighborhood Committee is to build community - welcoming new parishioners and encouraging them to participate in the ministries of the church - getting to know your Catholic neighbors. Every household of the parish is placed in a designated color-coded area to develop the concept of small communities within the larger community - neighborhoods within the Catholic Church of St. Gabriel. As our parish grows in numbers, a new color-coded area is added to maintain the small community feeling. The concept is so great, especially when you’ve just moved into an area. It’s a sense of family to know that someone across the street, or next door, attends the same church. Someone you can feel more at ease to ask questions, like when are Religious Ed classes, What are the Ministries of the parish and how do I volunteer? Even questions like what is the Beltran House or when and where are Confessions held? What is the MPB? You can always call the Church office, but sometimes isn’t it easier and less embarrassing to ask your neighbor? We are always looking for NEW participation in the Neighborhood Committee and we need your help. Would you like to be a Welcoming Representative and welcome new parishioners with a gift basket? Would you like to be a Telephone Representative to help pass on needed information to the parishioners? Would you like to help as a Bereavement Representative to support a family in time of trial over losing a loved one by helping with a reception at the church after the funeral, or taking a meal to a family to show sympathy from the parish a few days after they have returned from a funeral out of town? You can help to build the community of St. Gabriel. Encourage your neighbors to join the Church of St. Gabriel, welcome them with a friendly handshake or hug, encourage them to participate in the ministries, and help them in time of trials. But, we can be more effective by joining the Neighborhood Committee. Will you help by saying “Yes” to being one of the above Representatives? Contact Joyanne Tregear, Chairperson of the Neighborhood Committee (678) 817-6373.
The color-code and the size of neighborhood is subject to change as the parish grows in numbers or the Catholic population of a specific area change.
The location is determined by map coordinates listed in The Original Street Map Book. If you are in a different area than has been noted, notify Joyanne Tregearl, 678-817-6373. The following is an approximate location, not restricted to the following streets and subdivision.
