Offertory Procession |
The transitional point in the Mass between the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist happens at the time of the monetary collection and procession of gifts to the altar.
...It is praiseworthy for the bread and wine to be presented by the faithful. They are then accepted at an appropriate place by the priest or the deacon and carried to the altar. Even though the faithful no longer bring from their own possessions the bread and wine intended for the liturgy as in the past, nevertheless the rite of carrying up the offerings still retains its force and its spiritual significance.
#73, General Instruction of the Roman Missal
Our Ushers are always in need of parishioner participation in the carrying of the gifts of the bread, wine, and collection to the altar at each Sunday Mass. Many times, Ushers approach people before Mass and are turned down. Would you like to volunteer to be a gift bearer at a Sunday Mass? Singles, couples and even entire families are invited to participate. When entering the church, please let an Usher know you are willing to carry up the offerings. You may also sign up in advance by clicking here.
