Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a two-year process. Traditionally, catechesis begins with preparation for students in the seventh grade and is completed in the eighth grade. This Sacrament has traditionally been celebrated within the context of a Saturday evening Liturgy. Our Confirmation Policy For Eighth Grade Students Reads: 1. Candidates must be baptized. 2. Parents must be registered members of St. Thomas the Apostle parish. (Pastoral exceptions are granted if cleared ahead of time with the pastor.) 3. Parents and candidates must be regularly attending Mass. 4. Candidates must participate in one academic year of catechesis/religious instruction, prior to the year of catechesis/religious instruction and sacramental preparation for Confirmation. 5. Candidates must select a sponsor who shall actively participate in the sacramental preparation of the Candidate. 6. Candidates and sponsors must participate in the sacramental preparation determined by the Director of Education and Formation. Other teenagers and adults who have not received the Sacrament are prepared to receive it as the need arises. Please contact the Director of Education and formation for more information.
