Esperanca
Hope. In Portuguese, “esperanca.” A hope which has saved thousands of lives.
$974,897 (as of June 30, 2008) has been contributed to Esperanca through the St. Thomas the Apostle parish tithe since 1980.
The legacy of Father Luke Tupper, a Franciscan priest and physician, has grown mightily in 35 years. And because of its faithful contributions, St. Thomas can rightly celebrate its part in that legacy.
Did you know?
That in 2007 Saint Thomas spent $104,639 on Christian outreach? $53,072 of this money went to Esperanca, a medical mission located in Africa and the Amazon. $51,621 of this money went to fund local emergency needs and organizations such as Project Rachel, ACCESS of West MI and the Grand Rapids Area Council for Ecumenism. A 5% tithe of our weekend collection is designated to Christian Outreach. Your support allows the arms of St. Thomas to reach out to those near and far! Thank You!
