St. Jean Baptiste at 1292 Jefferson St, Muskegon, MI 49441 US - Farewell to Our Director of Music & Liturgy
Farewell to Our Director of Music & Liturgy
November 22, 2009 Solemnity of Christ the King Feast of St. Cecilia
My dear Parish Family,
It is with a heart of thanksgiving that I share a few reflections as I bid you farewell and take leave from my position as Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Jean Baptiste.
First, praise to our good and gracious God for his many blessings to me! He bestowed on me at an early age not only the talents and skills but the desire to serve him in his Church at worship - as my JOB!
It has been the greatest blessing to me to have served the parish community of St. Jean's for almost 22 years! Words could never adequately express my heartfelt thanks for the love, support and encouragement you have shown me over the years, and especially for your full, active, enthusiastic participation at our Eucharistic celebrations. You are the BEST! It has been my honor and privilege to have worked with the children (choirs, religious ed, sacraments) and to have assisted you at other important life celebrations: Baptisms, First Communions, Weddings, Anniversaries, and Funerals.
I am most grateful for being able to collaborate in ministry with Fathers Steve, Jim, Mark, and Tom, and so many dedicated staff members over the years, from whom I learned so much and grew in my own spiritual journey. The Lord also blessed me with my ever-patient husband, Bob, and family, who embraced parish life here at St. Jean's with me, and who never complained, but were oh-so flexible - ALL weekends and holidays (the schedule that comes with this job!)
Most of all, it has been a real JOY to work with the Choir. I have always been amazed at their faithful and loving commitment to Music Minisrty at St. Jean's, at their talents (they made me look good as their Director!), their patience with me, and the comraderie and faith we so lovingly shared as "family".
Transitions are always difficult, but I have many wonderful memories to take with me, and you will be in my prayers. As always occurs when music is involved, you have touched my heart! I do look forward to the time we will worship Christ the King together again, and raise our voices with those of the angels and saints at the Heavenly Banquet!
Ad Majorem Dei Gloria! Sue
"I will bless the Lord all my life, make music to my God while I live."
