CONFIRMATION SERVICE

The ordinary service opportunities provided for Confirmation candidates in this Parish are assisting with Saturday CCD as a catechist or aide; Liturgy--altar server, choir, usher, or cleaning the church; serving at Parish events such as Turkey Fest and socials; Youth Group service projects; and Confirmation I Service Day in May. The record of service is a private journal kept for the candidate’s spiritual benefit, which details the service and reflects on the experience. We are obligated by virtue of our baptism to serve God, His Church, our community, and the poor; a suggested guideline for Christian service is one hour per week.

CONFIRMATION SPONSORS

*Must be CATHOLIC adult (over 16), fully initiated (Baptism, First Communion & Confirmation) living in harmony with Catholic moral teaching, and not otherwise barred from being a sponsor.

*If married, must be married in the Church.

*Should be a mentor and model for youth who wish to live a Catholic life in Christ, someone who is a dedicated Christian, whom you would wish to emulate.

*Only ONE sponsor is required; the ideal person is a baptismal Godparent, and may be a man or woman.

*Sponsor MAY NOT be the candidate’s father or mother.

*Sponsors must be willing to accept this obligation, including attendance at Candidate/Sponsor meetings with your candidate (parents may attend if sponsor is unable).

*Sponsor must be present during Rite of Confirmation.

Q. Do we need to take a new name for Confirmation? A. No, it is not required, but it is certainly a good practice to learn everything you can about your baptismal saint and ask his or her intercession. You may choose a new saint name for Confirmation if you wish.

Radio Station:

Our radio station K-JOE 91.9 FM is dedicated to help meet the challenge of a new evangelization by providing a Catholic alternative to today’s music, and an opportunity to hear God’s message at home, work, or in the car.  It is a vital way for shut-ins, the elderly, and others to stay in touch with our Church. Programming is in both the English and Spanish.  The radio station is located on the 2nd floor of the parish office.
