St. Joseph Catholic Church at 218 10th St. S, Moorhead, MN 56560 US - Policy for Speakers at Mass

Parishioners occasionally request to speak at Mass to inform the parish of something their parish organization is doing. If anyone in your area of ministry wishes to do this they must:

1)      Secure a date for one weekend at least one month in advance by checking with Julie (284-6226 or jhardmeyer@stjoesmhd.com)  who will check with Father Mike and Matthew.

2)      Submit the finalized talk to Julie on the Monday of that week. This will give us time to review the talk and make any changes. The talk should be one minute in length and read slowly and clearly. Once the talk has been finalized, the reader should contact the staff person in charge during that week to set up a time to practice the reading at the ambo if he/she is not a trained lector.

3)      Submit the name and phone number of the person who will be speaking at each Mass. Mass times are 5:00 pm, 8:30 and 10:30 am and 7:00 pm. Will a speaker also be at the Newman Center at 4:30?

4)      The speaker should check in with the sacristan before Mass so that we are assured that he/she is present. The speaker should sit in the east transept of the church so that he/she can come up quickly and easily at the appropriate time. The talk will follow the announcements. If there is a second collection that weekend, the announcements and the talk will be given during that time, unless otherwise instructed by the sacristan.
