St. John the Baptist at 4987 State Route 81, Greenville, NY 12083 US - ROSARIAN OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

ROSARIAN OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

ROSARIAN OCTOBER NEWSLETTER
Attendance at Oct. 6th  meeting – 20
50/50 Winner-Suzanne McHugh - $5.00

The October meeting was well attended with many choices of goodies for refreshments. It was decided that from this time on a prefect be picked from those on each months list of hostesses deciding who will bake, who will bring in the milk, ice cream, etc. Not everyone will have to bake.
The Communion Breakfast was well attended, 24 in all, and everyone was pleased with the menu choices and the $10.00 price including everything. A special THANK YOU goes out to both Anita DeGiovine and Regina Peck for a job well done in searching for and booking this special event at the Hollowbrook.
Father Menty honored us by blessing our new statue of the Blessed Mother and saying the 9:00 o’clock Mass commemorating the living and deceased members of the Rosary Altar Society.   The statue was donated to us by Kathleen Nicholsen and we had hoped Kathleen would be present for the blessing and communion breakfast, she was missed.
Father Menty, our guest speaker, gave a nice talk at the breakfast about the Blessed Mother and how we should feel closer to her by realizing that she too was a mother doing her best to raise her son like any one of us. That we should feel more open and relaxed  when talking to or asking her for advice or help whenever needed.
Plans for our December Christmas party are coming along nicely thanks to our prefects Margaret Loyed and Dee Glaudino. The date is December 13th at Vince-Anna’s in South Westerlo. Guests are welcome but you should RSVP as soon as possible. Again a choice menu is offered.  Prices will vary depending on what you order. The choices being offered are:
Lasagna $13.50 plus 18% for “Gratuities” and 50 cents towards a Christmas “Cookie” dessert = $16.50
Eggplant Parm $17.95 with “G/C” = $21.60.
Blank Angus Steak $17.95 with “G/C” = $21.60.
Broiled Seafood Platter of shrimp, scallops, claims , flounder $21.95 with “G/C” = $26.50.
Chicken-a-la-Vincent (cordon blu style) $19.95 with “G/C” = $24.00
Menu includes either Pasta or Vegetable and potato.
Also Soup, Salad and Coffee.
An open bar (extra $) for sodas or drinks.
Members are asked to come prepared to the November meeting to pre-pay for their choice of menu. This is YOUR night out to sit back, relax, enjoy a great meal, visit with friends, laugh, sing and no dishes afterwards.
Our projects for 2009 have been completed. A weeping cherry has been planted in honor of Father Bauer and May 16th 2010 has been booked for a Mass honoring all St. John’s Priests. The tree dedication is expected to take place that Sunday following the Mass.
The plaque, listing all the priests of St. John the Baptist, was done at Sterling Trophies and that too will be put in its place of honor at that time.
Helene Olszowski told the story about the Green Scapular and the Blessed Mother’s request on how to use it.  In November Lucy DeLeon will read us more about the Blessed Mother and another of her many titles.
Hostesses for the November  meeting are: Eileen Bowden, Lucy DeLeon, Maria Jennings, Marylyn Mahoney, Gail LaPlante and Annie Morris.
NOVEMBER MEETING will be on WEDNESDAY – November 4th.
