On Sunday, October 16, 2005, Cardinal Adam Maida, along with several hundred parishioners, a full choir, three dozen uniformed members of the Sacred Heart Assembly Color Corps and four area priests, celebrated a Mass commemorating the silver anniversary of our parish.
During his homily, the Cardinal commented on the giving it takes to create and sustain a church family. He also mentioned the growth of the north Macomb area and the "happy problem" of funding needed to build a Catholic high school at 23 Mile and Card Rds. in the foreseeable future.
Fr. Jerry thanked the Cardinal for joining our parish in the celebration of the milestone anniversary. Dozens of parish and community members were involved in preparations for the special Mass. Fr. Jerry commented on the anniversary celebration which began several months ago: "This celebration is not just a nostalgic look back in time. It is also a time of reaffirmation of our parish family to the great works of God that we have given the privilege of accomplishing." (courtesy of Linda A. Badamo)
