| Nursing/Health Ministry |
Purpose
The Nursing/Health Ministry program was formed in partnership with St. Joseph Mercy of Macomb's Parish Nursing Network. The mission of the ministry is to spread the message of Christ through caring, compassionate service within the scope of professional practice as defined by the American Nurse's Association. The ministry is led by registered nurses, Susan Forest and Marian Giacona. Membership is comprised of medical and nonmedical volunteers. The roles of the ministry membership focus upon the physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological health of the family and parish community.
Activities
Activities have included: blood pressure screening, grief and loss support, welcoming of new births, campaigns emphasizing the promotion of health and prevention of illness across the age continuum. The Project Healthy Living was hosted and flu and pneumonia vaccine clinics held. Last year an automated external defibrillator was purchased for the church and two CPR classes were held. Programs have been coordinated for our senior citizens. Members of the Health Ministry Team have been actively visiting some home-bound parishioners. The Grief and Loss Support Group meets monthly. Check the bulletin for additonal information. The support team is led by Marian Thomas, MEd, Psychology.
