The main role of the choir is to bring the assembly to active participation in the liturgy in a full and conscious manner. The choir leads the assembly in sung prayer through the use of various styles of music. The choir also alternates musical passages with the assembly. The ability to read music is not necessary. You just need to be able to “carry a tune”. By rehearsing harmonies and working on special musical skills, the choir helps to make the music of the Mass more beautiful. The choir assists the assembly to express and share the gift of faith through song. Members may participate for the entire year or choose to sing for only a specific season such as Christmas or Easter.
