St. Joseph Catholic Church - Neptune at 28172 Nature Avenue, Hinton, IA 51024-8553 US - ANNUAL NEPTUNE NO CHICKEN SUPPER

For many years the parish of St. Joseph-Neptune served an annual chicken supper that included games and entertainment for the whole family. The meal was prepared by parishioners: including all the chicken, salads, and desserts. Later a caterer was used to provide the chicken. In the early 1980s, with more women working, a few bad years, and smaller attendance, the people of the parish voted to discontinue their annual chicken supper and replace with it with an annual collection that has become known as the Annual No Chicken Supper. Each year in August parishioners donate $50/couple and $25/single in order to not have the supper. As in the past, the money raised is used to help the parish meet some of its expenses.
