My name is Mariae K.Firlit and I have taught at St. Jude School since 1976, our bicentennial year. I have mostly taught in grades 2 and 3. I graduated from Aquinas College with a B.A. in Elementary Education and received my M.A. from Central Michigan University in Elementary Education. I have felt profoundly grateful for the education that I received. In my career, I have taught students that the most important role and responsibility they have is to be the best students they can be as they prepare for their future and to also share their God-given talents with others. I do try to expose the children to many opportunities spiritually, academically, and socially. As part of the team at St. Jude School, I might add, all of us do work together to carry out those spiritual, academic, and social opportunities in our individual classrooms and as a school community we are always looking for and creating ways to bring students together. During my "off-teaching time", I do enjoy traveling, listening to music, attending symphonies, reading, using my camera for those special Kodak Moments, and socializing with family and friends. When the summer days come to an end, I do feel invigorated to begin a new year with a group of new students, and feel it a privilege to be a part of their lives.
