| Mrs. Martha Adams |
Hi! My name is Martha Adams and I am the Fifth Grade teacher here at St. Jude School. Over the years I have also taught second, third and fourth grades. My career began in Ravenna, Michigan at St. Catherine's School. My first year, I remember how overwhelmed I felt with thirty-two second and third graders in the same class. I continued working at St. Catherine's for four additional years. The fall of 1984 brought change. My son Matt was born, and my other child, Sarah was born three years later. They say children grow quickly, and it's true. The both now are Spartans, Matt a senior and Sarah a freshman. As Evan Scholars, they live in the same house, which may or may not be a good thing. I think they have united and decided what not to share. At any rate, "Go Green!" I am the product of Catholic education. Although I was born in Iowa and lived in New York, I consider my hometown Midland, Michigan. My elementary years were spent at St. Brigid's and high school at an all girls' school, Regina High. Regina's doors closed the year I graduated. I attended Aquinas College and have taken graduate courses through MSU. My major is in Social Studies, while my minor is in Elementary Education. I am the second oldest with four brothers and four sisters. Together we live in eight different states, with my parents representing the ninth state. They live fulltime in Florida and settled in an area that draws lots of visiting from their children and grandchildren. They love it and so do all of their offspring. One of my strongest passions is reading. I absolutely love to read all sorts of literature and hope to pass this on to your children. When I'm not reading, I might be experimenting in the kitchen or gardening. Just call me Martha Stewart (actually my name was Martha Seward), and no my dad did not buy Alaska even though he is William Seward. I think true teachers have it in their blood. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember and can't really imagine doing anything else. I look at the little faces in my classroom and know that I am in the right spot. Here's to another great year!
