Philosophy of St. Leo the Great School Our philosophy begins with faith; faith in God, our Creator; faith in Jesus Christ. His Son; and faith in the Holy Spirit, our guiding light. The development and nurturing of this faith are brought about by following Christ's teachings and sharing His message through our daily actions. We believe education begins with the family and is supported by the school and parish community. The school shares in the family's responsibility of education by providing the structure for the student to grow in the love of God, to develop the unique talents that he/she possesses, and to learn the importance and resposibility of contributing and sharing as a member of the community. We believe it is important for the students to develop a sense of self-worth and self-discipline, as well as a respect and love for others. Included with this respect and love is an awareness of the cultural differences among people, and a willingness to appreciate these differences in the light of oneness in God's family. We believe that through the cooperation of the family and the school, each student may be able to realize a deep concern for his/her brothers and sisters, thereby forming a personal response in truth, justice, and love that will guide him/her throughout life.
