OUR MISSION and HISTORY
"The Mission of St. Leo the Great Catholic School
is to foster a Eucharistic community
that will work to develop in students,
faith, academic excellence, charity, responsibility,
leadership and social justice resulting in
a missionary spirit".
St. Leo the Great Catholic School is located in the heart of San Antonio, just south of Downtown. Founded in 1920 by the Sisters of Divine Providence, St. Leo the Great Catholic School has served the Southside community for 89 years!
We spread the Good News of Jesus Christ by providing an affordable, quality, faith-based education. The lessons in morality, responsibility, commitment, and service we provided have benefited our city, our community, and our country through the contributions of the individuals that have graced our hallways, like former student Congressman Frank Tejeda.
St. Leo the Great Catholic School is fully accredited through the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department and participates in the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Over 70% of the student body participate in the program and receive tuition assistance or scholarships. Our degreed and qualified faculty provides a challenging academic environment for our students.
It is our belief that by providing tutoring, extracurricular activities, and an outstanding athletic program, all within a disciplined, Christian environment, the student grows in wisdom, knowledge, and strength.
We offer a secure and safe learning environment, before and after school care, a Multimedia Computer Center, Internet in every classroom, Accelerated Math and Reading Program, Weekly Mass, and Daily Religion Classes.
We hope you enjoy your visit and encourage you to
