Catholic Men's Fellowship at St. Louise
The Pittsburgh Catholic Men's Fellowship was formed in response to Pope John Paul II's call for a new evangelization, particularly the reinvigoration of faith among Catholics. The mission is:
- to raise awareness among Catholic men of their need to re-experience the spiritual awakening they originally received at their baptism;
- to nurture and deepen their ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit;
- to embrace God-given roles in families, marriages, and churches;
- to seek opportunities for faith-formation, such as in parish-based fellowship groups;
- and to affirm and encourage our Catholic faith at the family, parish, and community levels.
The St. Louise Catholic Men's Fellowship meets every Saturday morning at 7:30 in the LeGras Parish Center. The meetings emphasize Bible study, Catechism, and personal reflections on living as Catholics in an increasingly secular world. All men of the parish are welcome: please join us.
G-20 INTERNATIONAL PRAYER AND FASTING CAMPAIGN
The focus of this international gathering will be upon protection of our environment. Although we as Catholics are committed to being good stewards of the Earth and encourage the leaders of the industrialized world to take this challenge seriously, we are concerned about various international protocols that focus on “population control” as a means to limit environmental harm. The “population control” measures in these protocols include commitments by nations to insure free access to abortion and artificial contraception. This obviously is not in keeping with the natural order or the teachings of the Catholic Church about the sacredness of all human life.
The Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Pittsburgh (CMF) and the National Fellowship of Catholic Men (NFCM), with the support of the Most Rev. David A. Zubik are leading a G-20 International Prayer and Fasting Campaign in the hopes of changing the hearts of world leaders on these crucial issues. It is time that we take up our battle stations on our knees before the Lord. We are collaborating closely
with the Legion of Mary on this Campaign.
The theme for this G-20 International Prayer & Fasting Campaign is from 2 Chronicles 7:14 “...and if my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my presence and turn from their evil ways,
I will hear them from heaven and pardon all their sins and revive their land.”
Accordingly, the Church of Pittsburgh is responding to promptings by the Holy Spirit to take a position in the battle for the dignity of human life and to pray and fast for the G-20 Summit. We are asking Catholics around the world to support and/or participate in three separate devotions.
