What's Happening in our Classroom!
We have started reading The Castle in the Attic. This is a wonderful story full of fantasy, magic, and realism. It's the story of a 10 year-old boy who learns to believe in himself as he journeys back in time to the Middle Ages.

We will be learning a lot about life in the Middle Ages including all about the different classes of people, how they dressed, what they ate, and how they lived. It sure is different than how we live now!
We will be making castles out of cardboard boxes and painting them to look as realistic as we can. Next we will decorate the inside of the castles with rooms, tapestries, tables, fur rugs, weapons and even knights and ladies. We will be sharing our castles with the other grades sometime in November.

Mr. Stinky Feet
Grades K-4 had the opportunity to go to St. John's and hear Jim Cosgrove, a wonderful musician who goes by the name Mr. Stinky Feet! He shared his music and enthusiasm for original songs with all of us. We got to sing along, dance, and play instruments as we kept rhythm to the music. It was a lot of fun!! See photos of our afternoon below.

October - The Month of the Rosary
On Wed., Oct. 14, the third and fourth graders made rosaries with the assistance of two parishoners from Our Lady Queen of Peace parish in Madison. Alice Buechner and Mary Jo Wettstein traveled to St. Luke's to teach our students how to make their very own rosaries! The ladies supplied all the needed materials and showed the kids how to assemble them.
Both Alice and Mary Jo were delighted to work with our students and share their wealth of knowledge about making rosaries and praying the rosary! Visiting St. Lukes was a special treat for Mary Jo as she is a 1960 graduate of St. Luke's High School!
