Holy Days - 2009:
  • Thursday, January 1, 2009 - Mary, Mother of God - IS a day of obligation.
  • Sunday, May 24, 2009* - Ascension of the Lord - This always replaces the Seventh Sunday of Easter according to a vote of the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops in the year 2000 and an indult granted by the Holy See to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in the same year.  - IS a day of obligation because it is a Sunday.
  • Saturday, August 15, 2009 - Assumption of Mary - NOT a day of obligation. (see explanation below)
  • Sunday, November 1, 2009 - All Saints - IS a day of obligation.
  • Tuesday, December 8, 2009 - Immaculate Conception - IS a day of obligation.
  • Friday, December 25, 2009 - Nativity of the Lord (Christmas) - ALWAYS a day of obligation.
Holy Days 2010:

  • Friday, January 1, 2010 - Mary, Mother of God - IS a day of obligation in 2010. 
  • Sunday, May 16, 2010* - Ascension of the Lord - This always replaces the Seventh Sunday of Easter according to a vote of the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops in the year 2000 and an indult granted by the Holy See to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in the same year.  - IS a day of obligation because it is a Sunday.
  • Sunday, August 15, 2010 - Assumption of Mary - IS a day of obligation in 2010.
  • Monday, November 1, 2010 - All Saints - NOT a day of obligation (see explanation below).
  • Wednesday, December 8, 2010 - Immaculate Conception - IS a day of obligation.
  • Saturday, December 25, 2010 - Nativity of the Lord (Christmas)ALWAYS a day of obligation.

Holy Days 2011

  • Saturday, January 1, 2011 - Mary, Mother of God - NOT a day of obligation.


Concerning Holy Days in the United States
In addition to Sunday, the days to be observed as holy days of obligation in the Latin Rite dioceses of the USA include the following solemnities:  Mary, Mother of God (Jan. 1); the Ascension; the Assumption of Mary (Aug. 15); All Saints (Nov. 1); the Immaculate Conception (Dec. 8); and Christmas (Dec. 25).  Whenever January 1, the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the Solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the obligation to attend Mass is lifted.

*Concerning the Transference of the Ascension of the Lord
Accorning to a unanimous vote by the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops in the year 2000, and by an undult granted by the Holy See to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in the same year, the solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord is always transferred to and replaces the Seventh Sunday of East for all the dioceses in the State of Florida.
