February is Catholic Press Month. I want to take this opportunity to make a pitch for The Catholic Moment. Both parishes have an envelope coming up in our packets for the purpose of our subscription donation. When I make home visits, I usually keep an eye out for any kind of Catholic literature. In many places there seems to be none. But I do notice copies of our diocesan newspaper. Our diocese has a policy of 100% coverage. In other words, we try to see to it that every household receives a copy. This gives Bishop Doherty an opportunity to share his column with every household in the diocese. I’m sure most of you have noticed ....

The first reading for today’s Mass along with the Gospel passage speak of those who are outcasts, those who are literally cast out from the communities of Israel. In our society of today we have our own outcasts of a different sort, but nevertheless similar. In our day we have a few who are quarantined due to disease of illness.
