St. Mary's at 1115 Pearl St., Anderson, IN 46016 US - AIDS Awareness
| AIDS Awareness |
St. Mary’s AIDS Awareness Ministry plans and hosts the Annual World AIDS Day Community Prayer Service. Occasional transportation to a health care facility appointments or treatments is also furnished to an individual living with AIDS. Persons with AIDS are not distant/unfamiliar people, objects of our mingled pity and aversion. We must keep them present to our consciousness, as individuals and a community, and embrace them with unconditional love. The Gospel demands reverence for life in all circumstances. Compassion - love - toward persons infected with HIV/AIDS is the only authentic gospel response. (Excerpted from: Called to Compassion and Responsibility: A Response to the HIV/AIDS Crisis. N.C.C.B. November, 1989)
Serving in this ministry can be in one or more of the following: Assisting in the preparation and participating in the annual AIDS Prayer Service, assisting in the fish fry/chicken fry fundraiser, or furnishing occasional transportation of an individual living with AIDS to a health care facility for appointments or treatments.
