VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND AT ST. MARY:
PARISH GUILD:
Women of the Parish - all are already members! Become active in your participation... Call Kathryn Keersmaekers through the parish office 784-7184. Lots of fun activities, four meetings a year, a great way for new parishioners to meet others and develop life-long friendships. See Parish Guild on the Home Page for more information.
ARIMATHEANS:
This is a ministry of men and women providing parish family presence and support at funerals in our church. At a time when families are grieving the loss of a loved one, the presence of parish family members at the funeral can be a great comfort. This parish presence is especially important at small funerals, where extra voices are helpful with the responses during the Mass.
If you are interested, please leave your name and phone number on Deacon Vince's voice mail at the Parish Office 784-7184 Ext. 13. You will be mailed a packet of information.
LECTOR AND/OR EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER OF THE EUCHARIST:
Contact Deacon Vince if you are interested in becoming a Lector or Eucharistic Minister. A schedule is provided twice yearly that includes all three weekend Masses. Once you have been trained, you may select the Mass time you would prefer. (Deacon Vince 784-7184 Ext. 13).
USHERS AND GREETERS;
PRESENTING THE GIFTS:
If you would like to help out before Mass as an usher or greeter, please contact David & Karen DesNoyer at 783-1401. You may also contact them to volunteer as a family or group to bring the gifts to the Altar at a Mass. Contact Karen or Dave for the Schedule, or sign the yellow folder underneath the Prayer Intention book in the vestibule of the Church.
EUCHARIST TO SHUT-INS
Call the parish office (784-7184) to volunteer to take Holy Eucharist to the home-bound or those confined to a nursing home. Contact Deacon Vince or Rose Marie Genco to volunteer, or to notify the parish of a loved one, friend, relative, or acquaintance needing a visit. We cannot schedule visits if we don't know who and where to contact parishioners.
Market Day, C.H.I.P. Certificates, Labels for Education
These programs are available to parishioners and also help raise funds for the church and school. The Market Day program benefits the school. A portion of the profit from your purchases of food products is donated to the school. Monthly flyers are always available in the lobby and vestibules of the church and also the school office.
C.H.I.P Certificates are pre-purchased in the church lobby after all Masses for services and merchandise at local businesses. A designated percentage of the certificate is donated back to the church, based on the denomination of the certificate purchased.
Labels for Education is a program that helps the school purchase much needed educational items. Labels are collected from Campbells, Pepperidge Farms, Swanson and other products and turned into the school office. This is an extremely painless fundraiser that everyone should be doing!
MUSIC MINISTRY
St. Mary is blessed to have a fantastic music ministry. Available to volunteers, we offer:
If you sing, play an instrument, or just want to inquire about our Music Ministry, contact Mrs. Mary Malewitz through the Parish Office (784-7184).
FUNERAL DINNERS
We can always use volunteers to donate food for the funeral dinners. To be put on the call list, please contact Kathy Way at 787-6824 or Judy Trudell at 784-6458. They will phone you when a passing side dish is needed. After the luncheon, your dish will be cleaned for you to pick up in Star Hall.
You may wish to help setup and serve the funeral dinners. They are currently seeking volunteers to form two groups of six people each. Contact Judy Trudell or Lou Blaney through the Parish office. This is something a married and/or retired couple could volunteer for and do together.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
Our parish is fortunate to have an on-site St. Vincent DePaul food pantry. If you would like to help out with the distribution of food to the needy, please contact Shawn Gifford via the parish office.
FOURTH SUNDAY SOCIAL HOUR
We need a volunteer to organize the Fourth Sunday Social Hour. Time required is about an hour each month. The volunteer would order donuts and bagels each month, send a reminder letter to the hosting group, collect the money and receipts and once a year disburse the funds to the hosting groups and prepare the next year's schedule. Contact Kathryn Keersmaekers at 784-3202.
