St. Mary Roman Catholic Church at 210 West Main Street, Manchester, MI 48158 US - The Angelus

The Angelus

The Message of an Angel

Each Tuesday at 12:00 noon, just before the midday Mass, the people of St. Mary’s are invited to pray together the Angelus, a traditional Catholic Christian prayer rejoicing in the Incarnation of our Lord! Angelus Domini, "the angel of the Lord" … declared unto Mary, and she conceived of the Holy Spirit!

In years past all around the world, church bells rang each day at 6:00 am, noon, and 6:00 pm to call for the praying of the Angelus. Our bells at St. Mary’s ring the Angelus at noon and 6:00 pm. Everyone in the Village or within hearing distance of the bells can be reminded to pray the Angelus. And if you are coming to midday Mass on Tuesday or are nearby, stop in to pray together these precious words of pious Faith.

(During the Easter season, the Regina Caeli is praying instead of the Angelus.)

The Angelus

V. The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary
R. And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Hail, Mary, etc.

V. Behold, the handmaid of the Lord
R. Be it done unto me according to Your word.
Hail, Mary, etc.

V. AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH
R. And dwelt among us.
Hail, Mary, etc.

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

LET US PRAY
Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord, Your grace into our hearts; that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Your Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.
