St. Vincent de Paul Meeting

January 16, 2008, 6:30pm

- Due to a shortage of time, it was decided that we should meet for a couple of hours to go over programs, work on the resource book, and generally bring together what we plan to do as a group.  The date set for the next meeting is Saturday, Jan 26th, at 9am in the parish house.

- There is a person in the Goldsboro area having financial problems.  We discussed helping with her electric bill, or if that is no longer outstanding, giving $200 to help with some other expense.  Pat will get information on this situation and let us know.

- $200 has been given from our funds to Area Churches in Action (ACIA).

- The need for ‘officer’ positions was discussed, especially treasurer. Currently, the SVdP money is in the church account.  We need to be able to track our expenditure and discussed the options of a church sub-account versus a separate account.  Mario suggested that a separate account would give us easier and quicker access to funds.

- We discussed where our boundaries should be.  The area that serves the parish was suggested.  More consideration regarding this is needed.

- Christel reminded us to pray before the meeting, since spiritual formation is the primary aim of the group.

 - We discussed the need for an accurate record of people we help to try and prevent abuses.
