Holy Days of Obligation
In the universal Church there are now, in addition to the Sundays, ten holy days of obligation during the year. In the United States, six of these are celebrated on the day assigned; the external celebration of the other four is, by special privilege, transferred to the following Sunday.

Not only does the Church recommend certain dedications for the days of the week but she also encourages us to make certain dedications of the months of the year as aids to devout living.
