More than a century after the establishment of St. Mary Parish, a mission church, St. Robert Bellarmine, was erected on South Elm Street under the guidance of Father August Finnance. The new parish was created by Archbishop Henry J. O'Brien on September 2, 1962 with Father Leonard T. Goode as the first pastor. In 1963, the pastor purchased the property of a local Italian group, the St. Oronzo Society, and transformed it into the Bellarmine Center on Southwest Avenue. More to come!
