Mission Statement: Family Assist, a ministry that provides assistance to parishioners, and referral services to non-parishioners, is rooted in the Gospel call to love and our baptismal call to serve. Through direct services we seek to offer compassionate concern and caring during times of difficulty or crisis, at all times respecting the dignity of each person. This special ministry consists of members who are dedicated to the “culture of life.” Members renew their call to unite in a devoted effort to restore respect and legal protection for every human life. We focus on respecting and protecting the lives of the innocent unborn and those who are ill, disabled, or dying. · Education regarding all pro-life issues: in the Catholic community · Care & Services: for women with problems related to pregnancy; for those who are disabled, sick, or dying and their families; and those who have been involved in abortion · Advocacy: for public policies that protect the lives of unborn children and those vulnerable to pressure to end their own lives. · Prayer: that the culture of death will be replaced by the culture of life and love. Job Descriptions No training is required. Members are asked to participate at their level of comfort and to offer the ministry their expertise in specific areas (e.g. marketing, writing, teaching, phone calling, etc.). St. Matthew's on site social worker will provide services that include but are not limited to:
