How great is our capacity to affect something that we don't understand? That is the starting point for CLASS MATTERS, an educational program team-taught by Rev. Dr. Paul Hanneman of the Urban Ministry Center and Wanda Anderson, MSW, of the Robinson Rehabilitative Services.
CLASS MATTERS introduces us to the different world of people in poverty, revealing how the survival-based mentality of generational poverty affects learning, work habits, and decision-,aking. Attendees learn the "hidden rules" of poverty, middle-class and wealth-and the assumptions which people in middle class bring to encounters with people in poverty. Participants also explore practical, compassionate strategies for engagement that can have a positive effect on people's lives.
