Usual ways to give from one's treasure include the following: Weekly Offertory Collection Here at St. Matthew, we are encouraged to make our goal 5-8% of income. We are also highly encouraged to use envelopes. This is a way to wrap our gift and allow the parish to keep a record for tax purposes. Additional Envelopes Other charitable causes are included in our packet of envelopes. These are additional opportunities to give and would constitute part of the remaining 2-5% (Tithing or sacrificial giving normally means giving 10% of total income). Our Catholic Appeal Our Catholic Appeal is an annual pledge to support the greater needs of the church here in the Orlando Diocese. This, too, would be part of one's 2-5%. St. Matthew Church Endowment and Charitable Trust A gift to the parish endowment is a lasting one--only interest from the principal may be used to support the spiritual and outreach goals of the parish. This might be a consideration when making out a will. Memorial Opportunity Financial gifts may be made to memorialize items such as outdoor Stations of the Cross or benches in the memorial garden, etc.
