St. Matthew has several committees and groups that gather for a particular purpose: Christian Meditation Prayer Group Learn about and practice Christian meditation based on the Benedictine tradition and Fr. John Main's teaching. Columbiettes The Columbiettes meet the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Knights' hall. Cursillo/Ultreya The purpose of Cursillo is "to develop in Adult Christians a consciousness of their power and mission to become leaders in their work of Christian renewal and to sustain them as they participate in Diocesan and parish programs and as they provide a Christian leaven in civic, social, and economic life." Meets the third Monday of the month in the church. Endowment Board The board is designated to oversee the establishment and promotion of the St. Matthew Endowment and Charitable Trust. The goal of a one-million-dollar principal balance would make interest available to further the mission of St. Matthew Parish. Finance Council The Finance Council is responsible to advise the pastor on the financial situation of the parish. The Council approves the annual budget and monitors it on a monthly basis. Knights of Columbus Meets the second and fourth Tuesdays at their hall. Bingo is Thursday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 7:00 pm. Liturgy Planning Team A group of creative individuals who meet monthly for seasonal planning and liturgy evaluation. Marian Devotion Prayer Group Weekly gathering to pray the rosary, Mother of Perpetual Help continual novena, petition prayers and support one another. Marriage Encounter M.E. is a special weekend designed to give married couples a chance to examine their life together, to rediscover the person they first fell in love with and married. Our Neighbor's Keeper This group's mission is to direct 10% of our offertory collection toward those who are poor and needy. It involves requesting input from parishioners, following up on their input, and reporting to the parish the used of the funds. Pastoral Council This is the primary consultative voice of the people of St. Matthew Parish and provides some share in responsibility for the parish, along with the pastor and staff. Renew Core Community This group has been responsible for directing the parish renewal process - Renew 2000 - and supporting Small Christian Communities at St. Matthew. Retrouvaille A Diocesan program designed to help heal and renew troubled marriages. The word retrouvaille means "rediscovery." Scripture Reflection Group Wherever you are in your journey--prayerful support and caring for each other with Bible study, intercessory prayer, sharing and fellowship. Stewardship Council The purpose of this council is to educate and encourage parishioners to embrace stewardship as a way of life--as a spirituality--which is lived in response to God's blessing.
