Things New and Old
The Statue of St. Joseph the Worker graced the top of the steeple of St. Michael the Archangel Church. It is a tribute to all the men and women of the Homestead, Munhall, West Homestead area who worked in the steel mills that were once the major source of employment in the Steel Valley. The statue was commissioned by Msgr. Altany in the 60's and was created in and shipped from Italy. It was often lighted by request of parishioners in memory of their loved ones.
It is now residing at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish (the Former St. Anne) where it can be viewed up close.
