St. Mel's Roman Catholic Church at 4140 Corona Ave, Norco, CA 92860 US - Principles of Stewardship

Principles of Stewardship

The call to be a holy people is at the heart of stewardship. Essential to stewardship are three principles that we need to appropriate with our lives. These are: Each and every baptized person is called to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. However, above and beyond this basic call to ministry and the Christian vocation, mature disciples make a conscious, firm decision, carried out in action, to be followers of Jesus Christ, not matter the cost to themselves.
Beginning in conversion, a change of heart, this commitment is expressed not in a single action, not even in a series of actions over a period of time, but in an entire way of life. It means committing ones very self to the Lord. Stewardship is an expression of discipleship with the power to change how we understand and live out our lives. Disciples who practice stewardship recognize God as the origin of life, the giver if freedom, the source of all they have and are and will be. We urge you and appeal to you in the Lord Jesus to make more and more progress in the kind of life you are ment to live, the life that God wants…
“What God wants is for all of you to be Holy” – 1 Thes. 4 1-3
From the writings of the late Archbishop Thomas J. Murphy - Chairman, Committee on Stewardship / National Conference of Catholic Bishops
