St. Mel Office Of Faith Formation at 154-24 26 Avenue, Flushing, NY 11354 US - Partners with parents - the primary educators of the faith.

Partners with parents - the primary educators of the faith.

Mission Statement: St. Mel School of Religion seeks to aid parents of children in grades 1 through 8 (also available are Special Education classes and RCIC programs for students up to high school age) in leading their children to an awareness of the presence of God in their lives within the Church. Every effort is made to integrate faith and Christian living. Parental Responsibility: During these years of faith formation, parents are responsible for making prayer and Sunday Mass a normal part of family life, ensure class attendance and preparation, and supervise homework. Our Responsibility: Through Scripture, prayer, and an appropriate curriculum, our catechists formally teach the Catholic doctrine necessary for children to become good, practicing Catholics. Sacramental Preparation: Sacraments are grace-filled milestones in the continuous faith journey of a Catholic. Catechists: Are lay volunteers who have completed, or are in the process of completing a catechist training course. Through the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, we are all called to spread the Good News by word and action. By sharing the same form of life as those whom they catechize, lay catechists have a special sensititivity for making the Word of God visible. Have you been called to this ministry? Please call the Religious Education Office to discuss this further.
